Chester is ready for his new home ADOPTED!

We did have all our Bernedoodles spoken for, but a couple of people had to back out on this litter, so now we have 2 left. This is our very first litter of Bernedoodles, so it's a huge learning curve for us. They come as they are, bright and beautiful. How big they'll actually get, and what their coats turn out like, is yet to be seen.

I ask all the folks who are getting pups from this litter to please keep in contact with me so I can know for future reference how these litters with Liesl and Teddy developed.

In general, these pups are much more docile than the goldendoodles. They have their energy and spunk... but it's shorter lived. And they have wonderful sweet temperaments.

Chester is a bigger, curly boy with a sweet non-dominant temperament. My guess weight for him is 65+ lbs. He's ready to go. Please contact us if you're interested.s

Wapta, our smallest girl, is looking for a big-hearted home ADOPTED

-- ADOPTED

Wapta is the smallest girl of the litter. My guess weight for her is about 60 lbs. I'm thinking that Liesl must have rich milk as these pups are a lot bigger than what I'm used to seeing! She has a nice, wavy, soft coat and a silly, non-dominant temperament.

It's hard to see on these photos but she does have the brown coming in on her eyebrows, edges of her ears, and cheeks, with also some on her legs. She has just started to show some lighter greys in her undercoat... who knows what she'll turn out looking like. The joys of mixed breeds!! 🙂

Liesl's Bernedoodle pups at 4 weeks

Our wonderful litter of Bernedoodles are growing and blossoming in character; and also colours! It has been most interesting to see how this litter differs from our goldendoodles first hand.

First of all, they're a breed who prefers cooler living conditions. It has been an unusually hot summer and they were only about 12 days old when they found their way off of the nicely carpeted, insulated floor of their whelping box to the cooler cement floor! And some still had their eyes closed! I quickly put a piece of carpet on the cement being the mom I am 🙂 and that's where I'll now find them sleeping.

Another big difference is the size of their heads. In general their faces and jaws are so much wider than what we're used to seeing.

When it comes to their characters... their personalities are just starting to bud and so that is yet to be seen.

Finally, we're excited to see that every one of them is tri-coloured! Some have more obvious browns shining through and those that I thought were black and white only now have brown shining through their eyebrows and/or cheeks. We'll see how things progress in the next few weeks.

Not all of the photos captured the brown markings very well, but they are there. The boys, with the exception of Bogart, all have more pronounced brown markings at this time. And in all cases they have white toes, a white tip on their tails, and white blazes, chests and tummies. I'm still amazed that we have such wonderful markings in an F1 (first generation) Bernedoodle. All that research and patience in finding the Daddy, Teddy Bear, has paid off!

Sadly, the little runt, Inflexible, did not make it to 4 weeks.

At this time, we still have a few pups available... likely only boys. They'll be ready to go to their new homes after September 21st.

Please contact me if you're interested in this litter or any of the other goldendoodle litters we have.

Introducing our very first and long awaited litter of Bernedoodle pups!

Our "Bernedoodle Project" (Bernese Mountain Dog X Poodle), as we now call it, has been in the making for the last 2 ½ years. It takes a lot of research and time to find good quality dogs and to understand this cross breed. Although my friend wanted me to breed these dogs 6-7 years ago I wanted to know more of Bernese Mountain Dogs, and to also see how others successfully bred these doodles before I would consider this combo for Hearty K9s.

We love our Bernese Mountain Dogs. They're very friendly and congenial, very similar to the goldens, but differ most in colour, their drive to exercise, and their tendency to have a less serious attitude about life. Please see About Doodles for more information.

We did buy our first mini Bernedoodle, Orca, from Ontario last year. She's part clown and cute as a button. We hope to breed her to Kodiak once she passes all of the remaining health tests later this year. As much as I want to have a tri-coloured Bernedoodle, I've researched and found that they're very difficult to get.

I searched a year and a half before I found Teddy Bear, a parti standard poodle to breed with my Bernese. He is a wonderful character and has a goofy sense of humour. His pups will be a blast!

I could go on and on about this adventure but will proceed with the news of what we're so happy to announce! After 2 unsuccessful pregnancies for Bernedoodles, this is very exciting news indeed!!

Liesl and Teddy are very proud to announce the arrival of Hearty K9s first Bernedoodles!

With great anticipation and glee, we were greeted by a very happy Liesl, showing off her 9 beautiful bouncing baby Bernedoodles on Friday July 27th. Every puppy at first glance are black with white blaze on their face, white chest, tummies, toes and tip of tail. Upon closer look, each one has the brown triangular/diamond shaped markings under their tail, (like the Bernese) and some have a tinge of brown on their cheeks and also their legs. Very sweet!! We will see if these brown colours will become more pronounced as they get older.

Liesl is settling in very well as a new Mama, and very proud indeed! At this time I expect these pups to grow to 50-80 lbs for their adult size.

There are 6 boys and 3 girls. There is one little boy who is ½ the size of most of the others but very strong and holding his own well... we'll keep cheering him on. We're naming them after some Mountains in Alberta. The boys are Brewster, Chester, Woolie, Cascade, Bogart and Inflexible. The girls are named Bonnet, Edith and Wapta.

I'm now taking deposits on this litter. They'll be ready to go home September 21/12.

Please contact us if you're interested in this litter or other litters.
